WHAT IS eLEVY


eLevy is an electronic revenue collection system managed by the Ministry of Local Government (MLG) and operated by participating Local Councils to collect Levy payments at Markets and Bus Stations.


A Marketeer or Bus Operator opens a prepaid eLevy account, deposits funds into their eLevy account through an authorized eLevy Bill Pay Agent, and then uses their eLevy account to make electronic levy payments, faster, conveniently, and securely.

HOW eLEVY WORKS ?

Account Management


Your eLevy Account is Prepaid- Each time a Levy is processed, the corresponding levy charge will be debited from your account.

When your account balance runs low, top up using one of the many payment methods available.

Accounts can be managed via the online portal, mobile applications or statements can be obtained on request from the market or bus station management office.

Paying For Your Market Levy - Marketeers


1. Register for your eLevy account at the Market / Bus Station Council Office


2. Select your Levy plan at registration (Daily, Weekly or Monthly Payment Plan)

3. Deposit money into your eLevy account using one of the many payment methods available using your NRC number as your account number.


4. A receipt will be issued for your deposit when the process is complete


5. Your chosen market levy amount will be deducted from your account automatically


6. You will receive an SMS receipt for your levy payment


7. The transaction is now complete and will appear in your online account


8. When your account balance runs low, deposit money into your eLevy account again to Top Up

Paying For Your Bus Levy - Bus Driver


1. Purchase an eLevy Bus Smart Card from the Bus Station Council Office or approved vendors

2. Activate the card at the Council Office , using the Mobile or Online Application, or sending an SMS or whatapp to the eLevy service line.

3. The Account ID printed on the card is now your eLevy Account Number.

4. Deposit money into your eLevy account using one of the many payment methods available using your Account ID.

5. A receipt will be issued for your deposit when the process is complete

6. eLevy payments for Bus Operators are conducted on a Pay Per Use Basis. So when you are required to pay, provide your e-Levy Card to the council attendant

7. The attendant will swipe the card against a POS machine.

8. The appropriate levy amount (based on the published levy schedule at that station) will be deducted from your account

9. Wait for your card to be returned along with your printed receipt.

10. The transaction is now complete and will appear in your online account

11. When your account balance runs low, deposit money into your eLevy account again to Top Up.
